president.jpgMessage from our President

Greetings! We had 6 people, including 4 Guests in attendance at last month’s meeting. Mr. Thomas Jean, Manager Blulick Airport was our speaker for the evening. The Chapter went to their Hangar for our Monthly Meeting, we had a short Business Meeting then we took a tour of their fine facilities, and look at several Vintage Aircraft stored in various hangars. We came back to the heated hangar and had some chili prepared by their Blulick Flying Club Members.
Then Mr. Thomas Jean who is a Mechanic gave us talk about what type of maintenance to do, to keep all their Flying club airplanes up to all the regulations. Then gave us some hands on fun, about the proper way to buck rivets, everyone got a chance to try riveting. Then we look at some wing extensions they were working on a particular aircraft, and a close look at the engine they were overhauling.
They follow all the FAR’s by the book for all their maintenance procedures they perform. No corners are cut, only FAA approved parts are used. It was a very good learning experience for all Members who attended. Thanks again, Tom for another great job, and tour of your fine facilities.
Next we had a great time at our Annual Christmas Party at the Golden Corral, in Clarksville, Indiana. We had 17 people in attendance, very good food from the Buffett Bar. Lots of fun and fellowship, it was good to just sit back and relax after another great year for our Chapter.
I would like to thank everyone who attended our Annual Christmas Party, and thanks to all our Board of Directors, including our newest board member Jimmy Gregory, please make him feel welcome. Jimmy will also be our Membership Chairman recruiting new members to the Chapter. Welcome aboard Jimmy, it is great to have you helping us recruit new members.
There will be no Chapter Meeting until January 31, 2012.
Please bring some ideas with you for our January Chapter Meeting, we are going to plan the 2012 year, with what we want to accomplish as a Group. This will include making a vision statement for the Chapter, Programs, Membership, By-Laws, Young Eagle Rallies, etc.
I have a great Chapter Program lined up for Tuesday January 31, 2012. Our Speaker will be Mr. Charles Arrington, Co-Author of The Wings Over The Falls, History of Southern Indiana Pilots. His Title will be “William Russell Beeler: Southern Indiana’s Aviation Treasure-Revised Edition.” Mark your Calendars for this Meeting.
Now, I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

SAFE FLYING! KEEP THE SPIRIT!
Larry G. Harmon
