Truman Sager flew the first flight in his RV-7 on Sep. 16th out of Bowman Field, Louisville, KY.
Truman reports that the airplane performed as Vans advertised that it would – it is quick and responsive! The RV-7 has a Superior IO360 engine with a constant Speed Hartzell prop.
Avionics include a Garmin 480, MX-20 moving map, a Dynon D180 EFIS, and a Tru Track autopilot with vertical speed indicator.
For his inaugural flight, Truman was chased by his friend Jim Stone in his Harmon Rocket. Truman says that “Vans has a great kit, that is well designed.” He also reports that his plane, N460MT,” is not ground lover and wants to leap into the air.”
Truman has about 3200 hours of build time in the RV-7, including paint work. It has a Bob
Nuckolls electrical system design, with a 20 amp standby alternator. Truman would like to say
many thanks to his wife Margaret for her help and patience, and to his Technical Counselor,
Ron Reimer. Truman is currently enjoying the 40 hour phase one fly off. (As noted above, Truman will give us a presentation of his RV-7 project at the November Chapter meeting.)
